Economics and Business (BSc)
Explore how to integrate business and economic thinking, examining how organisations, markets, and policy shape decisions nationally and globally.
Programme overview
Our Economics and Business (BSc) programme is designed for students who want to understand how businesses and other large organisations really work – and why.
You will study economics and business in equal measure, gaining a rigorous grounding in economic theory, quantitative analysis, and evidence-based reasoning, alongside the strategic, analytical, and creative skills central to effective business management.
Over the course of this three-year programme, you will develop the core skills of an economist, including econometrics, data analysis, and the use of mathematics and statistics to understand markets and inform decision making. Alongside, you will explore how organisations make decisions in practice, building insight into strategy, marketing, operations, and the management of people and resources. Through this integrated approach, you will learn how economic forces, public policy, and institutional contexts shape organisational behaviour and business performance.
Throughout the programme, you will be encouraged to think analytically and creatively, to evaluate competing ideas and evidence, and to develop well-reasoned solutions to complex business challenges. You will also examine the ethical, environmental, and sustainability implications of business and economic decisions, developing an understanding of the trade-offs organisations face between efficiency, responsibility, and long-term impact.
You will be supported to develop strong professional and transferable skills. You will work independently and collaboratively, use digital tools and data to support decision-making, and graduate with the confidence to contribute thoughtfully to organisations and society in a changing economic environment.
