English Language Tests

The Cardiff University Kazakhstan English Language Test is accepted as proof of English proficiency for our Foundation and Degree programmes.

Register for the English Test

All programmes at Cardiff University Kazakhstan are taught in English and have English language requirements ranging from an IELTS score of 6.0 (with no component below 5.5) for the Foundation Year, through to 6.5 (with no component below 5.5) for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

A variety of English language qualifications are accepted as proof of language proficiency, including IELTS and TOEFL. In addition, we offer our own examination- the Cardiff University Kazakhstan English Language Test.

This test is only available to students who have submitted an application to study with us.

The test consists of two parts:

1. A written test completed in-person on our campus in Astana
2. A spoken test that will take place online.

Both parts of the test must be booked at the same time.

There is an administration fee of KZT 10,000, which is non-refundable and must be paid within 24 hours of booking. The payment link is sent with your booking confirmation.

Test dates

Test dates in May, June and July can be booked now. Places are limited so please book your spot as early as possible to avoid disappointment. One test will be available in early August.

Please note that your Speaking Test should be booked for the same month as the written test.
