Scholarship Terms and Conditions

Merit Scholarship

1.1 Award Value

Recipients will receive a scholarship equal to 15% of the applicable tuition fee.

1.2 Number of Awards

A maximum of 10 scholarships may be awarded.

1.3 Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is awarded to self-funding applicants demonstrating outstanding merit, including one or more of the following:

Exceptional academic achievement;
National or international awards;
Research accomplishments;
Leadership experience;
Sporting or creative achievements; and/or
Strategic value to the University.

Every eligible applicant shall be assessed using the following assessment criteria:

Scholarship Essay / Personal Statement	10
Total	100

Meeting the eligibility requirements does not automatically entitle an applicant to receive a scholarship. Scholarships are awarded competitively according to the applicant’s total assessment score.

Where applicants obtain the same overall score, priority shall be given in the following order:

Academic achievement relevant to the programme.
International achievements/Olympiads.
National achievements/Olympiads.
Essay.
Admissions Committee decision recorded with written justification.

2.4 Duration

The scholarship will remain valid for the entire duration of study, provided that the student:

Progresses successfully through the programme;
Maintains the minimum academic progression requirements established by the University and published in the Academic Regulations;
Remains in good academic and disciplinary standing; and
Meets all tuition fee payment requirements.

2.5 Combination with Other Awards

The Merit-Based Scholarship may be combined with the 5% Full Payment Discount only.

2.6 Key dates

Scholarship application deadline: 10 August 2026
Scholarship decisions: 17 August 2026

Late applications will not be accepted under any circumstances.

2.7 General Conditions

All scholarships and discounts are subject to verification of eligibility and the accuracy of information provided by the applicant.
Scholarships and discounts are non-transferable and have no cash value.
The discount applies to tuition fees only and does not cover any other study-related costs, including accommodation, travel, visa fees, insurance, books, equipment, or living expenses.
Scholarships and discounts may not be deferred.
The University reserves the right to review, amend, suspend, or withdraw any scholarship, award, or discount scheme at its discretion.
The University reserves the right to request original documents at any stage of the scholarship assessment process. Failure to provide satisfactory evidence may result in the application being rejected or the scholarship being withdrawn.
Continued eligibility for awards extending beyond the first academic year is subject to compliance with all applicable academic progression, conduct, and financial obligations.
Where a scholarship or discount is stated to be combinable with another award, the combination will be applied only in accordance with the provisions set out in these Terms and Conditions. Any combination not expressly permitted is prohibited.
Students awarded the Scholarship will be notified in writing.
Applicants or students who disagree with a decision to award, refuse, or withdraw the Scholarship may submit a written appeal to the University (admissionskz@cardiff.edu.kz) within 10 working days of being notified of the decision. The appeal must include any supporting evidence. Thereafter, the University will review the appeal and make a recommendation to the University’s Management Board. The Management Board will review the case and provide a written decision within 10 working days. This decision will be final under the University’s internal procedures.

No applicant or student will be disadvantaged for submitting a genuine appeal.

2. Provost Scholarship

2.1 Award Value

Recipients will receive a scholarship equal to 30% of the applicable tuition fee.

2.2 Number of Awards

A maximum of three (3) scholarships may be awarded.

2.3 Eligibility Criteria

The Provost Scholarship is reserved for exceptional self-funding applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic performance together with significant extracurricular achievements. Applicants must normally demonstrate exceptional achievement significantly exceeding the standard Merit-Based Scholarship threshold
